Women’s Economic Empowerment.

Description

Despite certain progress achieved in gender equality in the country, including in Keda Municipality, issues such as equal participation of women and men in family economic activities and women’s involvement in decision-making processes remain on the agenda. Achieving gender equality is impossible without women’s economic empowerment/encouragement.

The issue of women’s involvement in economic activities is becoming increasingly important on the democratic development agenda. It is undeniable that gender equality is a crucial factor in democratic processes and economic development, as it forms the basis for employment, income growth, and universal well-being.

Considering these processes, on the initiative of Keda Municipality, a municipal program “Women’s Socio-Economic Empowerment/Support at the Local Level” was launched in 2022. Its main goal is to promote greater involvement and activation at the municipal level, increase access to population capabilities and financial resources, which will subsequently lead to women’s economic and social activity. This will serve as a stimulus/encouragement and example for other women to become more active and participate not only in municipal programs but also in grant projects announced by various non-governmental organizations.

The program aims to:

– Empower women and provide opportunities to start their own business locally.

The “Women’s Socio-Economic Empowerment/Support at the Local Level” program has been developed in accordance with the Gender Equality Action Plan of Keda Municipality.

Challenge

Despite significant measures implemented in the country, additional activities are needed on issues such as: activating women’s involvement in economic processes at the local level and increasing opportunities for women’s economic activities.

Solution

The program will implement support for women’s economic empowerment, encourage their activities, provide local employment opportunities, and increase the number of women entrepreneurs, which will contribute to women’s economic empowerment.
