Training was held for employees of the National Association of Local Authorities of Georgia to strengthen the association’s strategic vision and effective positioning with civil society organizations.
During the seminar, participants became familiar in detail with the results of research conducted by UN Women, which was focused on assessing the capabilities of civil society organizations working on gender equality and women’s empowerment, identifying their strengths and weaknesses, and developing recommendations.
The meeting also presented examples of activities and good practices implemented within the framework of cooperation between UN Women and CSOs.
The second part of the training was dedicated to discussing the principles of the association’s strategy. NALAG representatives, together with the expert, formulated mechanisms for proper definition of the document and discussed the association’s capabilities and expected challenges in relation to civil society organizations.
At the end of the meeting, participants became familiar with cooperation models between local government associations and civil society organizations existing in other countries and engaged in thematic group work.
The training was organized within the framework of the project “Women’s Leadership for Democracy in Georgia,” which NALAG implements with the support of UN Women, the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation, and the Government of Norway.
