Natia Ghvinashvili, Deputy Executive Director of the National Association of Local Authorities of Georgia (NALAG), National Coordinator and Expert at CEMR, participated in the second coordination meeting of the Standing Parliamentary Council on Gender Equality.
The meeting, which was held online to develop an updated plan for strengthening cooperation with municipalities, was attended by members of the Georgian Parliament, representatives of local non-governmental and international donor organizations, and experts.
The coordination meeting, chaired by Nino Tsilosani, Chairperson of the Standing Council on Gender Equality, was conducted in a discussion format, after which the working group members agreed on a future plan aimed at improving coordinated work with donor and partner organizations, implying effective planning and targeted implementation of activities.
“Our main task is to support Georgian municipalities in planning and implementing measures that are tailored to the needs of women and girls as effectively and flexibly as possible. To this end, we are ready to engage in processes related to the implementation of gender policy in local self-governments and to be their voice both at the international and national levels,” said Natia Ghvinashvili.
It is noteworthy that the Standing Parliamentary Council on Gender Equality is working on an action plan for 2022-2024, which will focus on women’s economic and political empowerment, as well as addressing the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic.
