Support for Women’s Small Businesses
The German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ) is implementing the program “Good Governance for Local Development in the South Caucasus”, one of whose main goals is to eliminate the crisis and post-crisis consequences created by the new coronavirus (COVID-19) in the country, support women’s business initiatives, and promote social and economic opportunities. Accordingly, the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ) announces a competition in Senaki and Oni municipalities to select and fund business ideas.
Stages of the grant awarding process:
- Submission of business idea applications by women;
- Selection of the best ideas;
- Training of selected idea authors in writing business projects;
- Submission of complete business plans by women;
- Selection of business plans;
- Funding of business activities;
- Monitoring of funded businesses;
At least 10 winning women will receive grant funding to start their own business. The maximum amount of each grant is equivalent to 2000 (two thousand) euros in GEL.
Who can apply for grant funding?
Women;
1. Who live in the target communities specified by the project, namely: in the villages of Senaki and Oni municipalities.
2. Who are over 18 years old;
3. Who have a business idea and wish to strengthen their capabilities and test themselves in the business field.
Not eligible for funding:
1. Women who are not registered in the specified territory;
2. Local community associations and other community organizations, government organizations (local and others), existing medium and large businesses;
3. Business projects that do not directly involve business development (for example, those that only serve education, information, etc.).
4. Agricultural sectors: animal husbandry, poultry farming, grain farming, beekeeping;
What should you consider when preparing an application for grant funding?
1. Preference will be given to business projects that will be implemented by a woman or several women together;
2. Preference will be given to new initiatives and innovation-oriented business projects (Start-ups), whose authors have some experience in this business field;
4. Preference will be given to business projects whose authors have the ability to co-participate (financial co-participation)
5. The presented business idea should be realistic and viable;
6. The woman wishing to receive the grant must present her idea in the forms specified by the project;
7. The woman wishing to receive the grant must be ready to go through all the necessary stages to receive the grant;
8. The woman wishing to receive the grant must be ready to cooperate with the decision-making commission.
What should you do in Stage I?
- Women wishing to receive the grant should submit their business idea application to the email address gizgrant@gmail.com.
- The application must be filled out using the attached form.
Who will review the submitted applications?
- The submitted applications will be reviewed by a group composed of project staff and evaluation committee members.
What criteria will be used to select business ideas?
Applications will be reviewed according to the criteria listed below, which will be assigned corresponding point values:
