Violence against women and domestic violence.
Description
Combating violence against women and domestic violence is a priority for Keda Municipality. Since 2015, numerous activities have been implemented, which were mainly informational in nature. From 2022, the sub-program provides financial assistance (400-800 GEL) to persons with the status of victims of violence against women and/or domestic violence (under the conditions of restraining and protective orders, by court decision and/or decision of the interagency working on issues of violence against women and/or domestic violence),
according to the duration of the status, as well as, if necessary, temporary (according to the duration of the status) rental of alternative housing for the victim of violence.
Educational and informational campaign, which includes the following sub-activities:
1. No Violence Campaign – Raising awareness about violence against women and/or domestic violence and about state and municipal services;
2. Early Marriage and Its Consequences – Providing information to the public about the possible risks and negative aspects of early marriage.
3. “International Human Rights Day” – Objective: To emphasize that we are all equal and have equal rights regardless of which structure we represent, which religion we follow, what language we speak, etc. Balance between two important tasks: protecting human rights and protecting humans;
4. “Orange the World – Stop Violence Against Women and Girls!” – Against global gender inequality – Providing information on violence against women and girls and ways to eliminate it; Training on issues of violence against women and domestic violence for teachers and high school students.
5. Conducting educational-informational training/seminars on issues of violence against women and domestic violence; Training on issues of violence against women and domestic violence for women and girls.

Challenge
Nationwide studies show that every 11th woman is a victim of domestic violence and 35% of women report experiencing controlling behavior from their spouse.
Stereotypical attitudes of society towards domestic violence.
In the territory of Keda Municipality, 43 restraining orders were issued regarding facts of violence against women and/or domestic violence in 2020-2021.
Solution
Within the framework of the program, various educational and informational events will be funded as part of the 16-day campaign “Violence Against Women”, which aims to inform the population and raise awareness.
Financial assistance to persons with the status of victims of violence against women and/or domestic violence
If necessary, temporary rental of alternative housing for the victim of violence (according to the duration of the status).
