Deputy Executive Director of the National Association of Local Authorities of Georgia (NALAG), National Coordinator and Expert at CEMR, as well as Coordinator of the project “Localization of Gender Policy” – Natia Ghvinashvili, was invited to the outreach session of the Parliamentary Standing Council on Gender Equality.
The two-day meeting, which included participation from members of parliament alongside representatives and experts from local and international non-governmental sectors, was dedicated to discussing the development of the Standing Council’s 2022-2024 action plan.
As noted during the session, the action plan will focus on women’s economic and political empowerment as well as addressing the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The meeting, which was conducted in hybrid format, proceeded against the backdrop of debates, and the Council’s future activities were also outlined precisely as a result of the competent and active engagement of participants.
Natia Ghvinashvili thanked the representatives of the Parliamentary Council for their involvement in this process and, as a representative of the umbrella organization uniting all 64 municipalities of Georgia, expressed readiness for even more productive cooperation in the future.
It should be noted that the meetings were organized by the National Democratic Institute (NDI) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) with financial support from the Good Governance Fund (GGF) of the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office of the Government of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland in Georgia and the Government of the Kingdom of Sweden.
